چکیده
Aims: Neonatal hyperbilirubinemia is one of the most common problems during first week life and cause readmission in early neonatal period. The present study aimed to predict development significant term neonates using cord blood hemoglobin.
 Study Design: Prospective study.
Place Duration Study: Department Paediatrics, MMCH & RC, Kozhikode, Kerala from March 2021 July 2022.
Methodology: prospective enrolled 162 appropriate for gestational age newborns, delivered at RC. Cord hemoglobin was measured bilirubin estimation done 48-72 hours life. Hyperbilirubinemia considered if serum value above standard as per American Academy Pediatrics guidelines. Data entered Microsoft Excel analysed SPSS 20.0 version. relationship between predicting studied statistical tests. Sensitivity specificity variables were defined ROC curve Pearson correlation coefficient determine variables.
Results: Out total enrolled, 86 boys (53.1%) 76 girls (46.9%). mean 15.3g/dl. 20 (12.3%) had developed required phototherapy while none them needed exchange transfusion. Correlation with showed weak (r=0.194) but statistically (p<0.05). On analysis, cut off ≥14.9g/dl 75% sensitivity 39.4% hyperbilirubinemia.
Conclusion: There umbilical level hyperbilirubinemia. can future This will be useful very low resource centres plan discharge newborns without fear

Cord blood α -fetoprotein as a predictive index for indirect hyperbilirubinemia in term neonates
Background: Prediction of severe neonatal hyperbilirubinemia is very important for early treatment and prophylaxis of neurologic sequels. The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictive role of umbilical cord ^5-fetoprotein (UCAFP) as a marker of an increased risk for neonatal hyperbilirubinemia in full term babies. Methods: Umbilical cord blood was collected from 400 term singleton full t...
متن کاملUmbilical cord blood acid-base analysis and the development of significant hyperbilirubinemia in near-term and term newborns: a cohort study
BACKGROUND The recognition, follow-up, and early treatment of neonatal jaundice has become more difficult, since the earlier discharge of newborns from hospitals has become common practice. Since intrapartum hypoxic stress has been pointed as predisposing factor for the occurrence of hyperbilirubinemia risk, we tested the association with the cord blood acid-base index tests. METHODS A cohort...
